 James G. Jones CFA, CLU, ChFC, MBA
Jones graduated with honors from both Southwest Baptist University (1986 - B.S. degree in Economics/Business Admin) and the University of Arkansas (1987 - M.B.A.). After graduate school Jones was employeed with Metlife and gained extensive experience in insurance, estate, and retirement planning. During that tenure Jones earned the Chartered Life Underwritter (CLU) and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional designations.
Jones joined Southwest Baptist University (SBU) in 1992 as an Instructor of Business Administration. He taught a variety of Economics and Finance classes. Constantly pursuing professional development, Jones earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation; which is recognized as the premier professional designation in the investment community. in 1999. as a tenured Assistant Professor, Jones was selected by the current and preceeding three senior classes to receive the Orien B. Hendrex Distinguished Teacher Award.
In 1995, while teaching at SBU, Jones founded Sterling Investment Advisors, LLC. In the spring of 2000, Jones resigned from SBU to devote all of his energies to investment management.
Jones has been an active member with the CFA Institute. Areas of service include grading, the Council of Examiners, the 2006 Practice Analysis Task Force, and the 2007 Continuing Education Task Force. In recognition of his service, the CFA Institute awarded Jones the C. Stewart Sheppard award at the 2008 CFA Annual conference in Vancouver, BC.
